Open Institute, in collaboration with FEMNET, is holding a two-day workshop on August 20th & 21st for civil society organizations in Kenya on using data for advocacy and accountability. Designed to demystify data and equip participants with skills for collection, analysis and communication of insights from data, the workshop will be a highly practical hands-on event focused on helping organizations put skills into practice in a short time and with minimal investment.
At the end of the two-day event, participants will have produced outputs that are actionable and feasible within the Kenyan context.
Participants in the workshop will tackle, among other things:
- Strategies for collection of data, finding public data / official statistics and managing data for advocacy work
- How to create engaging infographics and visualizations from data
- How to use ICT for citizen engagement
- What is crowdsourcing and its potential for transparency and accountability
On completion, the participating organisations shall benefit from a 3-month mentorship where the Open Institute team will be available to help participants implement the ideas they learn within the programs their organisations are currently implementing or launching.
